Every organiser knows the moment: three weeks out, a good share of the guests still haven't replied. The caterer wants a number, the seating plan is on hold, and there you are, ringing people one by one. Online RSVP solves this · provided it's done properly.
Why your guests don't reply
Rarely because they don't care. They opened the message on the move, told themselves "I'll answer tonight", and then life carried on. Paper makes it worse: a reply slip means an envelope, a stamp, a postbox · in 2026, that's an expedition. Replying has to be possible within ten seconds of opening, otherwise it gets put off, and therefore forgotten.
The four mechanisms that get people to reply
A personal link. When the invitation recognises the guest and their name is already filled in, replying takes just two clicks: attending or not, how many of you, send. Every field you take out of the form lifts the response rate.
Plus-ones named, not just counted. You decide how many places each guest has: coming alone, two places, or open. Guest by guest, on a selection, on a whole group, as a default for the entire invitation, or straight in the fifth column of the list you paste in. The guest then reads how many people they may bring and writes down, for each one, their first name, their surname, and whether they are an adult or a child; beyond their places, the form won't accept another plus-one, so you never have to arbitrate after the fact. If you set no limit at all, names are only asked for when they genuinely serve a purpose, that is as soon as one of your tables exists or the entry pass is switched on.
A visible deadline. "Please reply by 15 May" turns a vague intention into a small, real deadline. Put it on the invitation and repeat it in your messages.
Automatic reminders. This is the most powerful lever of all · and the most tedious to do by hand. Good tools automatically chase the non-responders 45, 20 and 10 days before, with a courteous email that reads like a nudge from a friend, not an unpaid bill.
Opened / replied tracking. Knowing who opened without replying changes your approach: for that one, a quick personal WhatsApp message will do the trick; the one who never opened it may well have changed their number.
What online RSVP gives you on top
Every reply feeds your planning: numbers of adults and children for the caterer, plus-ones named one by one, dietary requirements and allergies collected cleanly, little messages for the guest book. Exporting the list comes with the Signature plan, and when the day comes, the confirmed guests flow straight into the seating plan, which the Prestige plan opens.
In practice
On Invitez-nous, all of this is built in: named links, deadline, automatic reminders and live tracking. Exporting the list comes with the Signature plan. Take a look at a sample invitation · the reply form there is the real thing, so give it a go.
