Free online wedding invitation: what you can really do without paying

La rédaction Invitez-nous · 3 October 2026 · 5 min read

Yes, you can create and publish a wedding invitation online without paying, and your guests can genuinely reply to it. The Découverte plan gives you a published invitation, 10 named guests and 30 days online from the moment you publish, with no bank card.

This article says, item by item, what it includes and what it does not. Better to know before you start than on the day you go looking for a button that doesn't exist.

What you can do without paying

A real invitation, published. Not a preview: a page online, at an address you share by message, which opens in any browser, with no account and no app for your guests. You put in your first names, your date, a countdown, the day's programme hour by hour, the venue with its address, and the practical details.

The full RSVP. This is the part you would expect to be paid for, and it isn't. Each guest gets their personal link, the invitation recognises them, their name is already filled in. They reply in two clicks, give the number of adults and children, their dietary requirements, and leave a short message. You decide how many places each household has, and the guest names the people coming with them, one by one.

Automatic reminders. They are not held back for any plan. Guests who haven't replied get a courteous nudge at 45, 20 and 10 days before your deadline, or before the event if you don't set one. You also see who opened their link without replying, and who never opened it. This is the lever that makes the most difference to a response rate, and it's free.

The guest book. The short message left in a reply can be shown on the invitation, if you switch the option on and the guest agrees. No plan is required.

The dashboard. Attending, not attending, no reply, named plus-ones, dietary requirements: it all arrives live, and you can look at it as often as you like.

What it doesn't do

Better said plainly, item by item.

10 guests, 30 replies. This is the limit a wedding reaches first: 10 personal links, and 30 replies in all. A household counts as one reply, whether one person comes or five.

30 days online, from the moment you publish. Not from when you create it: you can work on your page for weeks without using up a single one of those days. But once it's published, it runs for 30 days, and a wedding is prepared over six months.

No gift fund. It opens with the Essentiel plan. It's the section couples look for most often after trying.

No music, no opening video, no photo gallery. The page is plain: your cover photo, your colours, your typeface, and the Classique template. The second template opens with the Signature plan.

No SMS, no change notifications. Invitations go out by email and by WhatsApp. And if the timing changes, the "Tell the guests" button isn't included: the first campaign comes with the Essentiel plan.

No access map, no room booking, no password, no QR pass, no seating plan, no export. You can write the address; the map that leads to it opens with the Essentiel plan. Each has its own plan, and the pricing page sets them out line by line.

A generic link, and a credit line. An address in your own name needs the Essentiel plan, and the page carries a "Created with Invitez-nous" line.

The two limits people forget

One published invitation at a time. You can keep up to 10 drafts, but only one page online. For a wedding and the next day's brunch on two pages, you need a paid plan, or you bring them together on a single invitation, with a programme over two days.

50 MB of storage. A cover photo and a few images fit in there easily. A gallery doesn't, but it isn't included anyway.

How to get the most out of it, in one evening

Don't publish straight away. The 30 days only start when you publish: take the time to compose the page, set the colours and reread your texts. As long as the invitation is a draft, the clock isn't running.

Choose your ten guests as a sample, not as the start of a list. The two witnesses, one parent from each side, the friend who opens everything on their phone and the one who never replies: in three days you'll see what your real guests will do in three weeks.

Set a short deadline. A week is enough for a trial, and it's what triggers the reminders. You'll see their effect without waiting, and you'll know whether the rhythm suits you before committing a hundred people to it.

Look at the dashboard on your phone. That's where you'll check it on the day itself, not on a computer. If the information you're after is there in two seconds, it's the right tool.

So who is the free plan really enough for?

It's enough to try it properly: compose your page, send it to five or six people close to you, watch their replies come in, check on a phone that everything reads well. It's a great deal more than a demo, and that's what it's for.

It's also enough for a small, short event: a brunch, a party for 10 people three weeks away, a quick announcement. There, 30 days and 10 guests are the right measure.

It isn't enough for an ordinary wedding, and we're not going to pretend otherwise: beyond 10 households, with a gift fund, SMS sending and a page that has to stay alive until the day itself, you need a pass. It starts at €49, as a single payment, with 12 months of hosting, and the gift fund at 0% commission.

The simplest thing is still to start for free. In one evening you'll know whether the page looks like you, and you only pay afterwards.

Your questions

Do you need a bank card to get started?

No: the Découverte plan is created and published with no payment method.

What happens to the invitation after 30 days?

It goes offline, but nothing is deleted straight away: your replies and your settings are kept for 3 months, and taking a plan puts it back online in an instant.

Can you move to a paid plan without starting over?

Yes: your invitation, your guests and their replies are kept, the plan is added to what already exists.
